The bases
Nearly every roof, whether it is a "non insulated roof", "ceiling roof", or a "roof of a reverse construction", can be planted, provided that all static and construction-physical assumptions are kept.
Non insulated roofs: with those not possessing insulation, ventilated when the roof does not possess any constraints from the construction-physical point.
Ceiling roofs: Single-layered, not ventilated roofs should be fundamentally equipped in para-insulation. (Sd >= 100m).
Roofs of reverse construction: with roofs of reverse outer construction, no layers can be used over thermo-insulation tiles, which would enable backward diffusion of steam. Therefore, if need be, the most common solution is the use of foil which protects the directly sealed roofs, that is the thermo-insulations laid below) against the roots. Intensive planting of the roof with the use of accumulated water is not allowed on roofs with reverse construction. According to "Guidelines for flat roofs", the sealing system of the roof (para-insulation - thermal insulation - sealing) should be planned and performed in such way, that in the case of a lack of tightness, no water migration is possible, and there is no passage to the faulty place. This is achieved, for instance, by complete sticking of the external layer of the roof (for instance foamglass as insulation) or by dividing with walls.
Roof fall: 00 roofs, as a case agreeing with the "Guidelines for flat roofs" are used in the case, where with demanding plants the supply of water should be increased, which is possible with the use of special drainage devices. In the case of extensive planting of the roof, it is recommended to use at least 2% of the fall, and to introduce elements of drainage, which would protect from creating puddles of water. In the case of roofs with a fall, particular steps should be taken in order to prevent the external layer from slipping and erosion. Beginning with a 200 fall, it is required to install additional steps protecting the external layer of the roof from slipping.
Elements penetrating the roof: the amount of connections on the surface should be considerably low, therefore, the elements penetrating the roof should be assembled in one place. Green roofs should be accessible for maintenance aims without any obstacles. It is also recommended in this matter to provide a water connection near the surface of the water and, in the case of low edges of the roof - stable platforms restraining these edges.
